I kind of like it. It doesn't look super fat. If they could make it look less like it is trying to be futuristic, it would be perfect. Also love the mirrors.

I see lots of good and bad here.

Bottom line:

Too slab sided

Nobody will accept fender mirrors on new cars

crunched greenhouse ruins the retro look

stubby nose and tail look good, will get butchered for crash and pedestrian test

This design in one word - MASTURBATORY

I love what they are doing with this! The styling isn't quite refined enough yet, but it is spot on for 'us' ;) - I haven't seen the specs but I can only hope for a minimal interior, low-tech gages, manual option (alongside dsg omg) and pastel color options. Oh - and RWD !!!! Is it too much to hope Volvo will revive the 240 a la this?

It's not aimed at them. Save for the few who get to play with mommy and daddy's money, they can't afford new cars anymore anyway. This is for people who remember when Datsun was still around. It's nostalgia styling, and they aren't the first car company to try to capitalize on that.
